i live next to williamsburg and have heard/seen great things there. manhattan is where everything is usually going on but living there is expensive and small. brooklyn is decent and better priced but you have to be prepared for certain neighborhoods and longer transit. it all depends on what you plan on doing while being here so you can find the best accommodations.
